Captain America returns with some of our Avengers in 2016… and it’s gonna get nasty.
Straight after Avengers: Age Of Ultron scoring the second biggest opening weekend of all time at $191.3 million, Marvel Studios continues it’s successful run as it begins shooting Captain America: Civil War.
[spoilers ahead]
The production will shoot on location at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the film’s production, as well as shooting in exotic locations in Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland.
“Civil War” is the third instalment of the Captain America films, which picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity.
After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
Tension will reach extremes. In the comic books we see Avenger turned against Avenger as opposite sides are chosen, namely Captain America’s team versus Iron Man’s team.
Civil War will see the return of cast favourites, along with a lot of new additions.
Roll call:

The “New Avengers”: a team co-lead by Captain America and Black Widow, as revealed in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Team roster includes (front to back) Falcon, Vision, Scarlet Witch and War Machine.
Standing on one side is Chris Evans, who picks up his shield once again as Captain America,
Standing on the opposite side is Robert Downey Jr. as he reprises his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Co-leading the New Avengers, Scarlett Johansson returns as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.
From Captain America 2, Sebastian Stan returns as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier.
Anthony Mackie reprises his role as he who does what Steve Rogers does, “just slower”, Sam Wilson/Falcon.
On the “side of life”, Paul Bettany returns as The Vision.
Jeremy Renner joins the fight as Clint Barton/Hawkeye.
Elizabeth Olsen, whose character is described by Maria Hill as “weird”, returns as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.
“Boom! You lookin’ for this?” It’s Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine.
Chadwick Boseman will make his debut as Wakanda’s hero and Vibranium overlord T’Challa/Black Panther.
Not actually your neighbour, Emily VanCamp returns as Sharon Carter/Agent 13.
Bringing the “Hulk Hurt” it’s William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
Looks like he’s still alive. Frank Grillo also brings the pain as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones.
Paul Rudd, after his debut in 2015’s Ant-Man, will join the cast of Civil War.
Although not made official, Daniel Brühl confirmed he’d play villain Baron Helmut Zemo in an interview with Independent. Martin Freeman has also been cast in an unspecified role.
Set for release in the United States on May 6, 2016, “Captain America: Civil War” is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Community”) from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The Winter Solider,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger”).
