The quote is made famous by Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in the sci-fi thriller movie Aliens.
The Xenomorph story continues in this first-person horror survival game Alien: Isolation, which takes place 15 years after the first Alien movie. Amanda Ripley was only 10 years old when her mother Ripley went missing after setting the Nostromo ship to self-destruct in order to destroy the alien Xenomorph on board that had murdered her entire crew.
Amanda is transferred to the space station Sevastopol to find the flight recorder of the Nostromo only to discover a Xenomorph has terrorized the station and killed the vast majority of the crew.
Alien: Isolation is compelling gameplay, stylised like Ridley Scott’s original Alien movie as a thriller and less like James Cameron’s sequel Aliens which was more like an action horror. Living up to the word “Isolation” there is a deep sense of loneliness throughout the game, aboard a decommissioned space station with only a few survivors who have all turned one another and a terrifying alien that is hunting them all down.
The eerie music and ambiance of the game is close to heart stopping and the visual effects are simply beautiful. It’s also endearing to see that the technology shown in the game is true to the earlier Alien movies with chunky 80s-looking computer consoles. There is also the slightest bit of film grain added to the game play, making it feel all that more cinematic.
If you’re looking for a game that will keep you intrigued and excited, this is for you.
Alien: Isolation is out now and available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows.
