October 21, 2015 is nigh. The future, as told by Doc Brown and Marty McFly, is nearly here. Sort of.
Hoverboards haven’t quite been invented yet and self-lacing shoes are just around the corner thanks to Nike (soz about that, Yeezy). But what I really want to talk about right now is cars. Yay for cars! While they’re not yet flying as per Back To The Future, the clever bastards at Toyota have created a car powered solely by hydrogen (kind of the same as what Doc fuelled his DeLorean with way back in the 80’s).
Now, this is usually the part where one might launch into a couple of paragraphs of in-depth information about how it all works. Well, I’m not going to because: science. So being the right-sided brain thinker I am, I will focus on something I do know about – creative advertising campaigns! While Toyota have been braniac-ing their way through the ins and outs of hydrogen fuel cells for the past couple of decades, the great unveiling of their vehicular homage to BTTF just happens to be taking place in October this year. And to celebrate this perfect alignment of stars and gods and futuristic predictions, they’ve got none other than Doc Brown and Marty McFly themselves (aka Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox) to help sale the wares.
With two teaser videos out and about already (see below, peruse at your leisure), a full five minute work of glory is scheduled to launch on 21 October. And I bet you my Nike self-lacing sneakers that it’s going to be a gem. And possibly, for many of us BTTF fans, an emotional rollercoaster if the first teaser video is anything to go by…
But hover boards are a thing!

Don’t work on water, of course
I don’t care that it’s an ad – it’s a sheer joy to see those two on screen together again!
