GIANT-MAN!
New information claims that a 30 foot tall giant Scott Lang will fight Iron Man and his team of Avengers in Civil War.
There are a few things about the Ant-Man movie that make us think it’s true.
Darren Cross has big ambitions.
Darren Cross (Corey Stoll), our villain of the film, is the former protegé of Dr Hank Pym who developed the Ant-Man technology (known as Pym Particles). Darren Cross is frustrated that Pym refused to share the rest of his technology with him, once Pym realised Darren Cross’s destructive vision. We see in the trailer that Darren Cross can already shrink as ‘Yellowjacket’, so what other technology of Pym’s could he be after? Pym may have also discovered a way to grow bigger, leading to Scott Lang becoming Giant-Man.
“Darren spent a lot of time at Pym Technologies growing up and he got a whiff of this other life that Hank Pym was leading as Ant-Man and the incredible technology to be able to shrink to half an inch tall,” says Stoll in an interview, “Darren became enthralled and obsessed with it and wanted to pursue it, but Hank decided to leave all that behind when he realised the ‘Pandora’s box’ that the technology would open”.
Marvel’s big clue?
Marvel’s synopsis for Ant-Man might contain a very huge hint:
“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world”.
“Towering threats” could refer to Cross trying to steal and utilise the super-sizing growth formula, presenting the threat Ant-Man faces.
Whether this theory is true or not, we’ll have to wait and see, but one thing is for certain we can expect very big action!
Ant-Man is in NZ cinemas July 16 2015.
