Blogger Obtains Protection Order Against Anonymous Trolls

Singaporean blogger Xiaxue has successfully issued a protection order against .

SMRT Ltd are an anonymous online community with more than 222,000 followers across  and .

The mother of one, who has been blogging since 2003, says SMRT Ltd have been attacking her and her family for the past three years and she’s had enough. If the “cowards” wouldn’t show themselves, she was going to show them the law.

On 29th January 2015, SMRT were served their court orders by email and Facebook message.

SMRT Ltd did not attend the 5 February hearing and were ultimately served the Protection Order for Xiaxue, her husband and their child.

This is believed to be the first protection order, in Singapore, to be issued against an anonymous entity.

The Protection from Harassment Act 2014 became law in Singapore only three months ago – 15 November 2014. This ACT applies to any communication – “image, message, expression, symbol or other representation, that can be heard, seen or otherwise perceived by any person“.

Let this be a lesson to all anon trolls… Don’t be a dick. You could be served.
