X Factor NZ recovering?

X Factor NZ seems to be on the rise back to popularity status after accusations were made that the show was rigged.

It seems a lifetime ago young Brad Fisher took his five minutes of fame and was willing to be quoted on various news publications that a producer would give signals.

A thumbs-up resulted in four yeses. A thumbs-down or a head nod ended in four nos or one yes and three nos.

That seemed to blow over quite nicely, but there was also the hit of judge Natalia Kills swearing at the audience that the public has seemed to forgive her and the brand for.

Halfway through January the bootcamp auditions were held at Auckland’s Vector Arena. Not only did people start saying nice things about the show, the twitter account actually started retweeting some of the feedback.

Other than a casual leak that there are bands (which is a surprise as no one mentioned it during the initial audition stage) there was nothing to bite our fingers on. People were enjoying the talent that was put before them.

Initially, there were also people who weren’t too keen on Willy Moon. This seems to have disappeared as well, with a fan enjoying his sound.

Now, here’s some facts that you may not have already known about X Factor:

  • SONY music signed the top four X Factor NZ contestants.
  • The bands category was announced last August here.
  • X Factor 2013 winner Jackie Thomas hasn’t released anything new, but was in a charity single mid-2014.
  • 3rd-place contestant Benny Tipene has since released an EP, Toulouse, and an Album, Bricks.
  • Runner-Up Whenua Patuwai released an album in June of 2014 named The Soul Sessions that peaked at #4 on the Album Charts.
  • New Judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon were married in May of 2014 and are both working on their third albums
